Biography
Ariella M. Colman, Esq., is a partner at Silver & Kelmachter, LLP and has devoted more than 25 years to the steadfast, strategic, and compassionate representation of individuals and families harmed by medical malpractice, personal injury, and wrongful death.
In addition to her active litigation practice, Ms. Colman serves in a managing-partner capacity within the firm. In this role, she oversees complex medical malpractice litigation, directs case strategy, supervises attorneys and staff, and works closely with the firm’s founding partners to ensure that matters are developed and prosecuted in accordance with the firm’s exacting standards.
Ms. Colman began her legal career in 1995 at a healthcare defense firm, where she represented physicians and medical professionals in disciplinary proceedings involving allegations of medical malpractice, professional misconduct, and administrative and statutory violations. This experience provided her with a sophisticated understanding of how malpractice claims are evaluated and defended. She draws upon that insight to anticipate defense strategies, identify systemic failures, and rigorously advocate on behalf of injured patients.
Since transitioning to plaintiff-side practice, Ms. Colman has dedicated her career to representing victims of negligence in complex medical malpractice cases, including matters involving delayed diagnosis, surgical errors, obstetrical negligence, failures to timely diagnose and treat infection and sepsis, and cases resulting in catastrophic injury or wrongful death. She is known for her careful preparation and experience in addressing complex medical and procedural issues.
Ms. Colman is a native New Yorker. She earned her undergraduate degree cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany and her Juris Doctor cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, where she received academic awards. She is admitted to practice in New York State courts and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
